Who are the Diocese of Northampton Guild of St Stephen Council?

We are volunteers from parishes throughout the Northampton Diocese who, under the direction of our Diocesan Director (appointed by Bishop Peter) – Rev Peter Griffin – meet together to provide information, assistance and encouragement to all parishes with altar servers.

Aims:

To encourage, positively and practically, the highest standards of serving at the Church's liturgy and so contribute to the whole community's participation in a more fruitful worship of God.

To provide altar servers with a greater understanding of what they are doing so that they may serve with increasing reverence and prayerfulness and thereby be led to a deepening response to their vocation in life.

To unite servers of different parishes within our diocese for their mutual support and encouragement.

To provide practical assistance and advice for altar servers and parish MCs in all aspects of serving at Mass.

To promote membership of the
